Company History

Graphnet has been active in the messaging business for over 40
years. Take a look below at some of our notable milestones since the
company’s inception in 1968:
1968. Graphnet is licensed as a
common carrier by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC),
becoming the first competitive data communications carrier to begin
offering services in the United States.
1977. The FCC authorizes
Graphnet to offer public record message services in direct
competition with the Western Union Telegraph Company. As a result,
Graphnet can now provide a full range of record and data services
throughout the United States and overseas without restriction.
1979. Graphnet becomes an
International Record Carrier, extending its messaging services to
all western European nations.
1980. Graphnet introduces the
Freedom Network, the world's first public packet-switched network,
which offers automatic on-line speed and protocol conversions. The
Freedom Network increases transmission speeds of some types of data
transport by over 20,000%.
1981. The Record Carrier
Competition Act of 1981 introduces price competition and permits
Graphnet to offer its own subscribers lower rates than those offered
to subscribers of other carriers. This increases Graphnet's market
share and profitability while decreasing customer service costs.
1995. Graphnet receives a
facility-based voice license for telephony operations in the United
States.
1997. Graphnet launches
long-distance telephony services in France and Belgium.
2003. Graphnet develops and
releases Unicom, a unified platform for sending and receiving fax,
e-mail, SMS and telex. Allowing for integrated, multimedia broadcast
capabilities, this web-enabled service has become a standard
offering in our services.
2004. Graphnet develops and
releases comprehensive SMS services to the European market. With
inbound and outbound plans, as well as SMS broadcast abilities,
Graphnet took a step forward in furthering telecommunications
worldwide.
2006. Graphnet launches Maximail,
Graphnet’s full-feature email service that allows users to send and
track broadcast, point-to-point, or group point-to-point emails
quickly and efficiently.
2007. Graphnet releases the
Failsafe Delivery Service option for its inbound fax service,
Electronic Fax Number. This option enables enterprises in ensuring
that employees read received fax messages, respond to time-sensitive
information, and make timely decisions.
