User Profiles
Clients can create Unicom user profiles that contain valuable
information such as first and last names and email addresses. First
and last names appear in the “From” field on fax cover sheets. Email
addresses are displayed in the “From” field for email messages.
Users may choose to display their full name along with their email
address, so that when John Smith working at Company X sends an
email, the recipient sees: <“John Smith” Jsmith@companyx.com>.
Unicom can send tracking reports to email or fax addresses specified
in the user profile.
Distribution Lists
Unicom allows you to create and manage your
distribution lists, so that you can quickly and
easily broadcast messages to thousands of
recipients. Users can create lists manually or
upload them from saved .csv files. They may contain
destination fax numbers, email addresses, SMS
numbers or other recipient data. Lists can also be
shared across multiple users.
Users can combine existing lists to create new ones.
For example a company wishing to create separate
lists for salespeople in each of the 50 states could
use uploaded state lists to create regional ones
(Northeast, Southwest, Central, etc.) or even a
nationwide one. This feature simplifies the process
of modifying a recipient’s information (e.g. a
changed email address), since updating one entry
automatically updates all lists where that recipient
appears.
Clients may set optional “expiration dates” for
lists. Unicom does not delete expired lists, but
rather hides them from the selection menu. Users can
manually delete lists that are no longer needed.
Unicom includes a search option to simplify the
process of locating a specific recipient.
Recipients who do not wish to receive messages (e.g.
unsubscribed customers) may be added to a “block
list”. Unicom will not transmit messages to these
addresses, even if they appear in any of your
distribution lists. This way, clients do not have to
continually update their lists
Non-List Destinations Users have the option of
adding ad-hoc names to their broadcasts for one-time
use. These recipients can still receive personalized
messages; however their addresses do not get stored
in any distribution list.

Creating Messages
Unicom allows clients to compose message bodies in simple text or
upload them in HTML format. Messages written in plain text will have
no custom formatting such as bolding, color or special fonts, but
are accessible from any domain (email browser or fax machine). If
users do not compose plain text messages through Unicom, they can
attach a file to be automatically converted into the main body. In
this way, if users wish to create HTML messages, they simply have to
upload the desired HTML file as the first attachment.
Users can add more information to the message by uploading
additional files. These appear as attachments in emails or as
printouts in faxes. Unicom’s preview feature allows you to view
these files as fax images prior to delivery.
Unicom can convert over 50 different file types into fax-readable
format, including .bmp, .doc, .dot, .gif, .html, .jpeg, .ppt, .xls,
and .log. For a complete list of supported file types,

Fax Merge
Unicom’s Fax Merge allows clients to send personalized messages to
hundreds and thousands of recipients simultaneously. Fax Merge works
by integrating a data file into an already existing document using
the Mail Merge utility in Microsoft Word. No additional software is
ever required, since everything needed is already available on
Microsoft operating systems! With Unicom’s features, users can also
attach non-word files to a fax merge broadcast. Through an
easy-to-use web interface, accessibility is second to none!
Use MS Word features in documents and merge fields including:

Delivery Options
Unicom offers clients a huge range of value added features for
sending messages, making it an unmatched product!
Fax Message Additions
Prior to delivery, Unicom users can add a cover page, a heading, or
page numbers to the message. The cover page option generates a
separate cover page for all faxes. This page can include the ‘To’,
‘From’, and ‘Subject’ fields, as well as fixed text. Clients can
also customize cover pages to include graphics and other information
if they do not wish to use the standard cover page.
The heading option inserts a heading at the top of each delivered
fax. This header usually includes the recipient name, recipient
information or company info, sender name, and date and time of
delivery.
The page number option adds a footer to the message. This usually contains a reference number and the page number.
These additions give your fax broadcast a genuine fax-look even though they are sent from a web interface!
Duplicate Destinations
Unicom can scan all selected lists and remove any duplicated
destination addresses found. Unicom can remove duplicated numbers
even when they are entered differently (i.e. 12345678901,
1-234-567-8901, or 1 (234) 567-8901). Unicom also removes duplicate
email addresses. This option should not be used if clients wish to
send messages to multiple recipients with the same fax number or
email address (i.e. Mark, Angie, and Larry at SALES@ABC.COM), since
Unicom removes duplicates based on destination address – not
recipient names.
Delivery Schedules & Retry Periods
Broadcasts can be sent immediately or scheduled for later delivery.
If Unicom reaches a fax busy signal, it will attempt to resend the
message. The standard resend period is 4 hours, but can be changed
to suit clients’ needs.
Billing Codes & Customer Reference ID’s
Clients with multiple users are able to enter billing codes for
delivery jobs to keep track of each department’s Unicom usage. These
numbers are shown in summary and detail reports. Jobs with the same
billing code can be sub-totaled on the monthly invoice. Customer
Reference ID’s can also be entered, so that they will show up on
reports. These two features make it easier to manage and track
message deliveries.
Resolution Types
For faxes, the fine resolution type provides better graphics and
text quality. It is recommended that if fine resolution type is
selected, users create a separate list for email recipients instead
of using a mixed email/fax list (since email recipients will receive
a fax image of the message instead of original documents).

Message
Tracking & Reporting
Unicom offers real-time tracking of messages, separating broadcast
and point-to-point tracking for easier management. Users can sort,
delete, cancel, or resend tracked jobs. Searches can be performed
using various fields such as job sequence numbers, recipient
numbers, and job status. Clients can view when messages were
delivered and the time they were opened. Unicom also inserts a
unique link in each email message to track HTML opens.
Unicom provides both summary and detailed reports for clients.
Reports can be sorted by destination address, delivery date, message
ID, or submission date. Users can search for all messages and for
canceled, delivered, or pending messages.
Unicom’s all-in-one service features are beneficial for various
areas within organizations that need to communicate quickly yet
effectively. Some examples include:
- Disaster recovery or
emergency notifications to internal and field personnel
- Time-sensitive mortgage rates
- Past due payment notifications and reminders
- Research analyst reports or morning call
notes
- Campaign management
- School closings
- Product announcements
- Broadcast last-minute rate fare reductions
- Unlimited uses for direct marketing
